At Kids First Children’s Services, we specialise in helping children who have unique needs overcome their challenges so that they can thrive, and not just cope, at preschool, school and in life.
Our team of psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and teachers works mainly with children aged 2 to 16 and their parents, and we’ve supported more than 13,500 Northern Beaches families in the last 13 years.
During that time, we’ve won many awards that have recognised the high calibre of professional support that we give to our clients and we have become sought after experts in the fields of children’s learning, behaviour and development.
The families we serve at Kids First face all sorts of challenges and our children have a wide range of abilities.
We support kids who attend mainstream schools and just need a little extra help to meet their potential. We also help children who have more long-term struggles that are the result of developmental delays, disabilities and challenging problems like trauma, family breakdown and bullying just to name a few.
We’re experienced NDIS supporters, and we’re known for our school readiness expertise too.
At Kids First, our core values are Care, Kindness, Compassion and Making a Contribution and our mission is to provide a platform of support for parents that raises them up so that they can be the empowered, effective parents that they want to be for their kids.
We do this by providing evidence-based, best-practice therapy and learning programs that teach children new ways to overcome their challenges.
We also do this by sharing the most up to date resources and tools with parents so that they can support their child at home and so improve their child’s chances of success.
We work in positive partnerships with teachers too, and this ensures that children get the cohesive support they need to meet the social, emotional and learning demands of life in their classrooms and playgrounds.
At Kids First, our core values drive everything we do. We are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children. Thousands of local families have benefited from our popular (and completely free!) Community Service Seminars every year.
And our focus is not just on the welfare of children in our area.
For every parent who attends a seminar, and every child that comes to Kids First for a Gap Free screening, Kids First helps a family in need for a day – we call it #TherapistsForGood
We?ve given thousands of days of access to life changing food, water, hygiene and sanitation services, across 25 countries.
Because we believe that every business has the power to change lives by integrating giving into its everyday activities.
#TherapistsForGood is a simple but powerful example of how together we can end global poverty, forever.
Fundamentally, at Kids First we believe that every child deserves to be seen as an individual with unique and valuable gifts.
We also believe in the right of every parent to be an involved and informed decision maker for their child.
Our mission is to help kids of all ages and abilities to thrive by empowering their parents to become strong and confident champions for their children.
It is a privilege to serve children and their families in the northern beaches, because as we always say, we’re here to help.

My name is Catherine Thompson, owner of Completely Baby, and an experienced Baby Sleep Consultant with over 17 years experience specialising in the Lower North Shore and Manly/Northern Beaches areas of Sydney. I am also a mother of 2 young girls. I provide families with the knowledge, processes and confidence to help their babies find sleep more easily.
My belief is that all babies have different requirements when it comes to sleep, however the frustration and anxiety caused from a lack of sleep can take it’s toll and I am passionate in helping families resolve this so they can focus on the joys of parenting.
Whilst I do believe each baby is unique with their own sleep needs, I use a ‘response based sleep approach when it comes to settling. What this means is by responding gently and consistently you can create a more comforting and secure environment for your baby thus encouraging sleep. I believe in working with families on slowing down and interpreting a situation before responding. I respect that every families situation is different and that working collaboratively to achieve set goals is most effective.

Based on 30 years of child development research, Circle of Security Parenting™ is an 8 week program that helps you balance being firm and affectionate while helping support your child’s emotional and physical development.
Learn how to understand your child’s emotional needs and how to support their self-management of their emotions. Circle of Security Parenting™ helps you enhance your child’s self-esteem in a supportive and non-judgemental group environment.
A positive connection with their parents helps a child thrive. Circle of Security Parenting™ provides a map to enhance the quality of the relationship between parent and child. Improving this relationship can improve our child’s behaviour and decrease parental stress.
The program is run by registered facilitator Heather Lindsay of Blissed Out Mums. Heather is parenting coach, Registered Nurse and mum of 3. It is an 8 week program that is run online due to Covid restrictions. Daytime and evening sessions are available. Follow the link to learn more about the program and register for the next round.
