Need to get the kids out of the house? Are you desperate for a decent coffee in a location that welcomes your little one? We have put together a list of the best child-friendly cafes on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
The Boatshed Cafe & Bar – Narrabeen
The Boatshed Cafe is a favourite destination for local mothers. It offers a serene atmosphere on Narrabeen lake, gaggles of geese for little ones to feed, two nearby playgrounds, great coffee and fantastic food. Could you ask for more?
21 Grams Espresso Bar – Dee Why
The name of this cafe, 21 Grams, came about because they use 21 grams of grinder coffee per coffee instead of the usual 16-18 grams, so as to enhance flavour. The coffee here is divine and they also have a great kids playroom, making it the perfect cafe for families.
Le Trefle Cafe – Killarney Heights
Holy crepes! What a fabulous place nestled in the burbs. Go for delicious fresh crepes and great Allpress Espresso coffee. Plus there’s a play area out the front for the bigger kids to climb about
Curlys on the Corner – Curl Curl

Daniel San – Manly
Daniel San has brought a little bit of the neon nightlife to the beachfront of Manly. If you are a child of the 80’s and love Japanese food, rock n roll and have little ones then you will love this place. The kids even have their own activity table and the big kids (or little) can play on classic pinball machines at the back.
The Bronze Kiosk – Mona Vale
A great place to start the weekend with the kids. If you’re looking for ocean views, good food, coffee and a playground nearby try Bronze Kiosk in Mona Vale. It’s a bright beach side cafe with friendly staff and there’s easy parking and did I mention you’re right next to the beach.
Penny Lane Cafe – Curl Curl
The decor is fresh and vibrant and so is the food. Their salads and sandwiches are delicious and change daily and the Allpress coffee is smooth and robust. Little ones will love the gated grass areas to run and play and the toy corner inside.

It doesn’t get much better than this ? particularly if you are a child. A small protected beach with no waves, white sand, swings and great food. This little hole-in-the-wall kiosk is a little gem with amazing views of the ocean and plenty of room for the little ones to have a ball! Bring on Summer!
Flying Fox Cafe – Mona Vale
This cafe was made for children. The name says it all and is taken from the fabulous flying fox in the adjoining children’s playground. Sit back and enjoy whilst your little ones play and enjoy themselves.
The Beach Shed – Dee Why
