State-wide expansion of ‘Staying Home, Leaving Violence’: A Step Forward in Transformative Change
The NSW Government announced a comprehensive $230 million emergency package aimed at bolstering support for victim-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence, and at expanding primary preventative programs. Among the initiatives being funded, the standout for us at Women & Children First is the statewide expansion of the “Staying Home Leaving Violence” (SHLV) program – a cause we have relentlessly advocated for.

MediINK Artistry, a business here on the Northern Beaches, was inspired by a life changing event. Amanda Kercher-Hack, founder and master artist of MediINK, wanted to help her daughter recover from lifesaving surgery. In 2021, Amanda’s then 13-year-old daughter Scarlett had several heart surgeries which culminated in a heart transplant. These surgeries left Scarlett with significant scarring, not something a teenage girl necessarily wants. When Amanda spoke to other mums and teens who also had heart surgeries she began to see a common theme – scars. Thus began a search for a way to conceal these visible scars with a treatment that was effective and long-lasting. Enter ‘skin camouflage.’

The John Colet School Open Day is open to the public between 10am - 2pm, Sunday 26th May. It’s a brilliant way to explore the school’s unique differences. Classrooms are open to view schoolwork and art, and you can meet teachers, the Registrar, the Headmaster, students, and other school parents.
