The holiday I spent in New York for Christmas was one of the most magical times of my life... Memories of chilly horse drawn cart rides through Central Park, the craziness of Christmas Shopping in Macy’s, catching a show on Broadway and the Christmas Tree and ice skating at Rockerfella Plaza and so much more.
So when I received a copy of this book and couldn’t wait to dive in reminisce.
The book’s tag line is “Live the dream of a White Christmas in New York City” and it didn’t disappoint. It brought back all the memories of that special time…. the brightly lit buildings everywhere, the happy faces, despite the cold and oh my goodness….the amazing food. As well as being a glimpse into a New York Christmas, the book also tells three beautiful and popular American Christmas stories (Paul Auster’s Auggie Wren’s Christmas Story, The Gift of the Magi by O.Henry and Virginia O’Hanlon’s Is There a Santa Claus?) which I loved as they really evoked the spirit of Christmas.
And of course, the book is packed full of 50 of the most delicious festive recipes which I can’t wait to try out. First on my list are the Maple Gazed Ham and Parsnips with browned butter, hazelnuts and thyme. YUM!!!
If you’ve ever dreamed of Christmas in New York, this is the book for you. And if you’ve been luckily enough to have celebrated the festive season in this magical City then this book will take you straight back.
