Want to create the ultimate sleeping sanctuary? Here are some tips to elevate your bedroom

Our bedrooms should be a place of peace and calm, where we can take a minute for ourselves, unwind and most importantly, get a good night’s sleep. But several elements may impact the peacefulness of our bedrooms, from clutter to lighting, to not having good quality bedding. Here are my top tips for creating the ultimate sleep sanctuary, so that when you cross that threshold, you will always feel a sense of calm.

Comfortable bedding and sheets

If you are tired of tossing and turning at night, struggling to find that perfect balance of comfort and breathability, I would recommend looking for bedding that is made from natural fibres such as cotton and linen.

Unlike synthetic materials that can stifle airflow and leave you feeling trapped under the covers, cotton, and linen bedding, such as that from the new McPhails collection, offers unparalleled breathability. Additionally, did you know that synthetic bedding can sometimes contribute to skin issues like spots and pimples? Not exactly what you want when you’re trying to get your beauty sleep, right? Our natural fibre bedding is gentle on the skin, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, without any unwanted surprises.

What sets McPhail’s collection apart is not just the superior quality of the materials, but also the craftsmanship that goes into every piece. Each item is lovingly handcrafted to ensure the utmost attention to detail and durability. It’s a luxury you can feel, night after night.

Lighting Control

Create a sleep-friendly environment by controlling the lighting in your bedroom. Install blackout curtains or blinds to block out external light sources, especially if you live in an urban area or have streetlights outside your window. Use dimmable lights or bedside lamps with warm, soft lighting to promote relaxation before bedtime. The last thing you need is for your bedroom to have 7-11 lighting.

Clutter-Free Space

Keep your bedroom clutter-free and organized to promote a sense of calm and relaxation. Remove unnecessary items and clutter from surfaces, closets, and under the bed. Consider implementing storage solutions such as baskets, bedside table shelves, or under-bed storage containers to help keep your bedroom tidy and free of distractions. Make sure you dust your room regularly too.

Calming Colours and Decor

Choose calming colours that promote relaxation and tranquillity. Soft, neutral colours like beige, light blue, or pale green can help create a serene atmosphere conducive to sleep. Incorporate elements of nature such as plants or nature-inspired artwork to bring a sense of peace and harmony to your bedroom.

Temperature and Air Quality

In addition to having breathable bedding, maintain a comfortable temperature and good air quality in your bedroom to ensure optimal sleep conditions. Keep the room cool and well-ventilated, especially during warmer months, by using a fan or air purifier if necessary. Additionally, consider using a humidifier or dehumidifier to adjust the humidity levels for better breathing and comfort during sleep.By incorporating these tips into your bedroom design, you can create a tranquil and inviting space that promotes restful sleep and relaxation.
