As two mums on a much-needed night out, we absolutely loved. Helen Mirren was completely captivating as Queen Elizabeth II — elegant, witty, sharp, and surprisingly emotional all at once. You genuinely forget you’re watching an actress and not the Queen herself.
What we loved most was how personal the story felt. The film takes you behind the palace doors into the Queen’s private meetings with her Prime Ministers, and it’s fascinating, funny, and at times really moving. The dialogue is clever without feeling heavy, and there were moments where the whole cinema was laughing together.

Helen Mirren absolutely carries the entire production with ease. Every look, pause, and line delivery felt effortless and believable. It’s the kind of performance that keeps you glued to the screen the whole time.
We came out talking about it over drinks afterwards and both agreed it was one of the best cinema nights we’ve had in ages — smart, entertaining, emotional, and beautifully done. Even if you’re not usually into royal stories, this is completely worth seeing for Helen Mirren alone.
