Preparing for a baby is always exciting but it’s also expensive and stressful at the same time. That’s because you will have to baby-proof every single inch of your home and that can take months. To make things easier and less stressful here are some of the most important tome renovations to do before your baby comes.
Tackle all the safety issues
If you can do just a couple of projects before the baby comes the most important ones to do are ones that revolve around safety. Dedicate a couple of weeks to baby-proofing your whole home. The biggest concerts are things like mold, electrical or plumbing issues, and unsecured windows, places where the baby can get stuck or hurt themself. Make sure that if you have stairs that you install baby gates as well as baby-proof any corners and edges that they can run into.
Take care of the nursery
Even though this is super obvious, you will need to create a nursery for your new baby. But that room will need to be very safe, clean and comfortable because you will be spending a lot of time in there. You won’t be sleeping in there, you will still be in there changing the diapers, rocking, and feeding them. But it needs to be comfortable for you too. Make sure that you have enough shelves, storage space as well as adding things like humidifiers, heaters, and air purifiers.
Make your kitchen safe and equipped
When you are waiting for your baby to arrive, make sure that your kitchen is completely safe and equipped for your baby to come. Make sure that you add things such as safety latches to your cabinets as well as child locks on everything. Another thing to look out for is any issues and hazards that might happen. You should also try to reconfigure your kitchen and keep all the new appliances out of reach.
Prepare your bathroom
Even before you give birth to your child there is something that you can install that will help you. Amongst things that you will need to add for your baby when it arrives, some things need to be there for you too. Look into installing your bidet toilet seat that will help you drastically in the last month of your pregnancy. You might also want to consider things such as heated flooring, stools where you will be able to sit while bathing your child. But the most obvious things to add to your bathroom are all the baby supplies such as a baby bathtub.
Get your laundry room equipped
When your baby arrives, you will produce a lot of laundries and you have to prepare for it. That is why you need to upgrade your washer and dryer to something more efficient. Make sure that there are proper settings on them for washing baby clothes. Another thing you will want to have is all the baby laundry detergents as well as a place to store them. By creating more storage space you will be able to keep everything organized.
Install safe flooring
This is something that doesn’t come to a lot of people’s minds. But having safe and non-toxic flooring in your home is very important when there is a baby on its way. It is better to start thinking about it now than when they are lying or crawling on it. If you already have a good carpet you can get it professionally cleaned before your baby comes. Make sure that the floors are soft and provide plenty of cushions.
Getting everything situated for your new little family member is super important. But you need to do it a few months in advance, in order to have things running smoothly. Once your baby is born you simply won’t have the time to make any improvements or renovations. By doing them in advance you will be able to spend all the time in the world without having to worry about their safety.
