Make a Difference by Walking for a Kinder World on November 13th

With everything happening in the world today, kindness has never been more crucial for the mental well-being of our primary school students. Now there is a way that Australians can have an impact at home with a grassroots event dedicated to highlighting the positive, with the b kinder foundation third annual “walk for a kinder world” event on World Kindness Day, Monday 13th November.

Australians of all ages and locations are invited to pledge $10 to take part in this feel-good initiative of going for a walk. Participants can also choose to invite friends and family to help raise further funds and support them in their commitment to kindness.

It’s simple. Around the playground, in the bush, the city or on the beach, with family and friends or even just to the letterbox- it’s all about getting outside and thinking about the positive impact every individual can have on their community in the smallest of gestures. Say hello to a neighbour, hand out some flowers, pick up some litter or leave someone a kindness message.

Each $10 donation will provide one primary school student with their own b kinder foundation workbook, a unique and interactive learning tool that initiates discussions surrounding emotions that can be difficult for the young to communicate.  This highly effective kindness resource has been shown to reduce mental health issues, bullying and suicide when implemented in the school environment.

Our children are facing increasing pressures, surrounded by division and confusion around Australia’s recent referendum and the heartbreaking conflict overseas. This is a small way to have a very big impact on these young minds.

The b kinder foundation was created by Danny Mayson-Kinder after her beautiful 12-year-old daughter Billie Kinder died in a tragic accident in May 2016. Billie was an extraordinary girl who continually gave through her smile, thoughtfulness, constant acts of kindness and amazing gift of words. Her legacy now lives on through b kinder foundation’s prevention and early intervention via evidence-based well-being programs and resources to help children in their pivotal years by encouraging them to become kinder, more empathetic and more compassionate.
