Looking for an educational preschool program?

At Forestville Montessori School (FMS), we?re going Beyond Inspired, harnessing your child?s natural curiosity, independence and joy for lifelong learning, through an exciting new offering for 3 and 4 year olds in our Pre-Primary Program.

To meet the needs of families, an alternative 3 full day option will be available for 3 and 4 year olds in our Pre-Primary Program. The existing 5 half mornings will also continue to be available for your child.

The Montessori philosophy is key to everything we do. This alternative offering will allow us to continue our commitment to providing the highest quality Montessori education at FMS for 3 full days, alongside all our existing programs.

The original ?Casa dei Bambini? – a full day Montessori experience, was a social experiment which began in 1907 in response to what the community needed at the time, intellectual stimulation for the children.  We too wish to   provide a unique Montessori service that also helps families as they juggle work commitments whilst honouring the legacy left by the ?Casa dei Bambini? experience. Montessori is a philosophy for life, it can be applied in any place, context and at any time.

What days will the program be available?

The new 3 full day option will be available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. We?ve chosen these days to align with our current Toddler 2-3 Program, enabling families to have a seamless transition when it comes time for their child to begin our Pre-Primary Program.

What will the program offer?

Each day your child will be engaged through an authentic Montessori program from 8:30am-3pm. This includes:

  • Individual lessons as well as large and small group activities
  • Self-chosen work
  • Opportunities to build cognitive skills for life in their mixed age classroom
  • The opportunity to receive expert guidance from their Program Director who knows each child?s strengths and can connect children with developmentally challenging experiences
  • Community lunchtime
  • Opportunities for outdoor play
  • The chance to be part of a consistent community of children where they develop skills to collaborate, problem solve and resolve conflict

Will lunch be provided?

No, the children bring their own lunch. What?s beautiful about the lunchtime is that the children set a communal table and eat lunch together.

How does this differ from Long Day Care?

At FMS, we offer an educational program. The alternative 3 day Pre-Primary Program for 3-4 year old children focuses on the following areas of development:

  • Independent life skills
  • Gross and fine motor skills
  • Social interactions through focusing on language
  • Individual learning needs
  • Emotional regulation
  • Contributing to the classroom and school community
  • Appreciation of nature and the wider world

How much will it cost?

Please refer to the fee schedule on our website for a detailed breakdown of our tuition fees. Our tuition fees are reviewed annually.

What are the times of operation?

The Montessori work cycle commences at 9.00am with doors opening at 8.30am. Children can be collected at the end of the afternoon work cycle at 3pm. Your child?s day can also be extended until 5:30pm at no extra charge. Before School Care from 7:30am-8:30am is available at an extra charge of $10.

Will we still be eligible for CCS funding?

FMS is unable to advise on the ability of families to access the Australian Government?s Child Care Subsidy Package, as eligibility depends on every families? individual circumstances. FMS can provide a fee summary schedule for you to take to Centrelink to obtain an estimate of any CCS you may be entitled to.
