Four things to do with the family this winter

Winter is on it’s way and with that comes that challenge of keeping your kids entertained, active and getting them outdoors. Fortunately, both the Northern Beaches and the city (which is only a ferry ride away) is full of both natural wonders, and exciting events to keep the family entertained in the winter months. Here are our top picks.

Sign up to a fun run

The Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10K and 5K  is an incredible morning out on July 24, 2022. The event is set on a flat course, with the beautiful backdrop of Sydney Harbour. There are two distances to choose from 5K or 10K so something for the whole family and the routes are even pram friendly! The beauty of a fun run is that it gives your kids a goal to work towards. Throughout June and July, they can be doing light training and short runs to prepare for their big day. It is a great way to encourage them to lace up their shoes and be active. This year the event will be supporting the Australian Cancer Research Foundation as they continue to fund pioneering programs and revolutionary research into all cancer types.

VIVID

After two years, VIVID is finally making a come back in 2022. Accessibly by ferry, VIVID is a beautiful and creative festival of light which is fun for the whole family. Set up around the city, there are installation, activities, live music and it is also a great walk by night. VIVID is definitely an event that the whole family can enjoy.

North Head Walk

The North Head walk is one of many picturesque walks around Manly. Bring the family along and enjoy a stroll through nature. If you are lucky you may even see some wildlife from birds to echidnas or koalas. Enjoy the incredible views of the water, the boats and Manly too.

Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo is another beautiful day out that is near by. Set in Mosman with views of the water, the city and the cliffs it is probably one of the most picturesque zoos in the world. Taronga have a big conservation program so yourself and the kids canlearn about the environment, animals, and their breeding programs all while engaging with the incredible animals that live there.
