SubTerrains – Theatre Kantanka’s Dream Shutter live performances
Join Bankstown Arts Centre for Theatre Kantanka’s Dream Shutter live performances, as part of the 2022 Bankstown Biennale, SubTerrains.
Dream Shutter is a performance installation by Theatre Kantanka that fuses formal and popular psychology, story-telling and surreal photography with the desire to resonate this wild wondrous terrain with the audience and to inspire them to consider and commune with their own dreaming selves.
At the height of the Covid pandemic a cadre of artists came together to reflect upon their dreams. Their dream diaries consisted of writing, drawing and image-making. Their aim was to grasp the quick-silver elusiveness of their dreams to gather insight into their own penumbral realms. As the group of artists immersed themselves into the imagery and symbols of each personal dream this collaborative act begged the question – are these manifestations still dreams or have they become something else?
