Second Hand Saturday

Residents are encouraged to meet their neighbours, seize valuable bargains, and contribute to environmental sustainability by participating in a Second Hand Saturday garage sale.

As items find new homes through sales, the initiative aims to minimize the amount ending up in landfills.

Residents are also invited to host their own Second Hand Saturday stall, offering an opportunity to earn money, connect with neighbours, and contribute to environmental conservation. By organizing a garage sale on Second Hand Saturday, participants can showcase their pre-loved treasures to a wider audience, with free promotion on the organization’s website to enhance visibility. The success of the sale is emphasized, as each item sold contributes to reducing landfill waste.

Eligibility for participation extends to any residential household, with the caveat that unit residents secure permission from their body corporate. Commercial properties, clubs, churches, or schools are not eligible to partake in the initiative.

Registration is a straightforward process, completed online through the Second Hand Saturday Registration platform. The registration deadline is set at 12pm on the Tuesday preceding the scheduled garage sale. In the event of a need to cancel, participants can simply email before 12pm on the Thursday preceding the sale, and their address will be promptly removed from the website.
