Open Mic Night
Manly Library extends an invitation to its Open Mic Night series, offering a platform for individuals to share their creativity and talents, ranging from songs and poetry to storytelling and comedy. These events are scheduled from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Fridays, monthly from March to October. Attendees can either take the stage to perform or simply enjoy the array of community talent on display.
Registration for performers begins at 5:00 pm on the event day, directly at Manly Library.
The Ground Floor of Manly Library ensures an accessible venue for both audience members and performers alike.
Performers’ Guidelines:
- All performers must be at least 16 years old
- A sign-up sheet will be available from 5:00 pm on the day of the event
- The library provides a modest raised stage equipped with a corded microphone on a stand and a chair for performers’ comfort. Additionally, an AUX cord is available for those needing backing tracks
- Each performer is allotted up to 10 minutes on stage to ensure broad participation. A bell will signal when 9 minutes have elapsed
- In keeping with the library’s commitment to being a safe and inclusive environment, performers are urges to be considerate in their language use. Any performance not aligning with these values will be promptly discontinued
Audience Participation:
- While the series primarily targets youth and adults, individuals of all ages are welcome to attend. It’s important to note that some performances may include adult themes or language, necessitating parental supervision for younger attendees
- The library champions a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Audience members are expected to uphold these values by showing respect to the performers, which includes refraining from speaking during performances
