Ivanhoe Park Botanic Garden Walk & Talk
The Friends of Ivanhoe Park Botanic Garden invite you to join us to hear about the history of Ivanhoe Park and the local area.
Sessions
There will be two separate walks depending upon your level of fitness and/or interest.
After a short talk and slide show in the Manly Oval Pavilion, where a delicious tea provided by the Manly CWA will be served, you will then will set out on a 30-minute walk.
Morning session
10am – 12 pm (meet at 9:45am)
Join Sandy on an easy walk in the lower garden as she introduces you to the fascinating sporting history of Ivanhoe Park as well as regaling you with stories about the wildflower shows of the 1800s, then taking you to our sensory garden.
Afternoon session
2 – 4pm (meet at 1:45 pm)
Tony will take you to the upper garden on a journey past the World War II Memorial, through the spectacular canopy garden, you’ll then walk the old Manly to Spit tramway that ran through the top of the park.
Bring
Please wear walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen.
Location notes
The pavilion is located next to the Manly Oval Grandstand in Ivanhoe Park.
There is ramp access at the Sydney Road entrance behind the Grandstand. Other park entrances are on Belgrave Street via the main gate and Raglan Street near Manly Bowling Club.
