by Maximeyes Optometrists Manly
Maximeyes is an independent optometrist practice based in Manly that has been serving the Northern Beaches community for over 20 years. As primary health care providers, Maximeyes are the first stop when it comes to eye problem diagnosis and general eye care.
The owner and lead optometrist, Dr Max Humphreys, is passionate about eye care and eye health in general, but especially when it comes to children. He has been an advocate for children’s eye health in Australia and the Northern Beaches for many years. Max has recently been joined by an equally passionate optometrist, Dr. Sunila Dumpala, and they are both ably supported by two other enthusiastic and experienced optometrists, Marlena Di Grac and Yit Benfield.
The team at Maximeyes are equally ready to assist with all things eye care from arranging eye exams to helping you find the right set of new glasses or contacts.
Eye Health on the Northern Beaches
As we all know, the Northern Beaches is a wonderful place to grow up. With easy access to both beach and bush and a great community, we live in a part of the world many would be envious of.
Whilst the many benefits are obvious, the Australian and Northen Beaches climate also poses risks to eye health. Our strong sunlight, especially when combined with a beach culture, can enhance the risk of specific eye conditions from an early age. Although the treatments for these are often quite simple and straightforward, diagnosis is a vital first step.
Whilst most eye diseases can be successfully treated, few can be cured. At Maximeyes, we focus on prevention over cure, putting preventative practices in place before your vision changes.
The Importance of Regular Eye Checkups
Just like regular physical health checkups, eye checkups can help identify any underlying issues before symptoms present themselves. Regular eye checks not only help pick up immediate issues but track subtle changes in the eyes over time. This can often highlight potential future risks or lead to an early diagnosis of eye conditions that can be dealt with sooner rather than later (where the damage may already be done).
Regular eye checks are even more important for children, whose eyes are still developing. By measuring the change in your children’s eyes over time we are able to determine whether they are at risk from common childhood eye diseases such as myopia (short-sightedness). We can begin or recommend treatment (often as simple as more outdoor time or a change in diet) before the conditions become detrimental to your child’s schoolwork or sports activities.
Maximeyes Optometrists offer full bulk-billing for all children’s eye exams. We perform all the standard tests plus include a number of non-standard tests without additional cost.

Maximeyes Optometry Services
We provide a comprehensive range of optometry services for both children and adults. Contact us if you require more information.
Eye Exams & Diagnosis
We recommend comprehensive eye checks every year, especially for children. This helps to identify a full range of eye conditions as soon as possible.

Orthokeratology (Orth-K)
A non-surgical and reversible process used for myopia control. Especially useful for swimmers or surfers who don’t want to wear glasses or contacts in the water.
Virtual Reality Training
VR training is used to successfully treat a range of vision problems. Treatments can be highly customised for the individual and can be done in the comfort of your own home.

Eyewear Prescriptions
Whether you need glasses or contacts for the first time, or you’re updating your existing prescription, we can help.

Sunglasses
In the Australian environment, a good pair of sunglasses is essential for protecting your eyes and preventing or minimising long-term eye damage. Maximeyes stocks a range of UV-protected glasses, or alternatively, can arrange for UV-protection to be added to your prescription glasses.
Specialist Referrals
As a primary health care provider, we are ideally your first stop for any eye related concerns. We can often offer non-surgical options but refer you to appropriate specialists where necessary (and help you ask them the right questions).
