Sunny And Storm follows two nine-year-old best friends who are complete opposites, but totally inseparable, and honestly the friendship between them is just the sweetest thing. It’s funny, full of heart, and my kids absolutely loved it — perfect for little ones aged 6 and up!
A Mum’s Review
As a teacher and a mum, I’m always looking at books through two lenses — and this one ticks boxes on both. The made-up words that Sunny and Storm create together are such a clever device for sparking kids’ curiosity about language, and I could immediately see how that element alone would get young readers excited about words and storytelling. The mystery plot gives the story real purpose and momentum, which is great for keeping reluctant readers engaged. The friendship between the two characters also models positive communication and loyalty in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. Short chapters, clear language and a satisfying resolution make it a great fit for emerging readers, and it’s absolutely one I’d recommend both at home and in the classroom.
What My Daughter Said
She was fully invested in piecing together the mystery and kept stopping to tell me her theories. When it all came together she nodded very matter-of-factly and said, “I knew it.” Kids who like to think — this book is for them.
