by a Mum of an 5-year-old
This Little Golden Book biography introduces young readers to Kylie Minogue, Australia’s world-famous pop star. It follows Kylie’s journey from a young girl who loved performing to becoming an international singer and entertainer. With colourful illustrations and simple storytelling, the book highlights creativity, perseverance, and the joy of performing.
From a Mum’s Perspective
As someone who has been a fan of Kylie for years, this book felt extra special to read with my daughter. I grew up listening to Kylie Minogue, so sharing her story with my five-year-old felt like passing along a little piece of my own childhood. The book does a lovely job of showing Kylie as a determined young performer who followed her dreams, which made it both nostalgic for me and inspiring for my daughter.
I also really appreciated how the story focuses on positivity, hard work, and creativity. It briefly touches on her acting and music career, but in a way that’s simple and engaging for younger readers. The illustrations are vibrant and full of energy, lots of stages, sparkly outfits, and cheering crowds which my daughter absolutely loved.

For me, the best part was seeing my daughter get excited about someone who has meant so much to me musically over the years. It turned a simple bedtime story into a really sweet shared moment. If you’re a Kylie fan raising little ones, this book is a wonderful way to introduce them to an Aussie pop icon.
What My 5-Year-Old Thought
My daughter was immediately drawn to the performance scenes and the sparkly outfits in the illustrations. She kept saying Kylie looked like she was having so much fun singing on stage. At one point she even said the pictures made her want to dance while we were reading. By the end, she told me she thought Kylie would be really fun to watch at a concert.
