We can all feel disconnected to either ourselves or the world around us sometimes, and there is truly no better way to find a connection than embracing the environment and nature around you. There are many wonderful benefits of spending time outdoors and embracing, enjoying and interacting with nature. Here are 5 ways to connect to the environment around you according to founder of EirWaves, Sarah Dawes:
Surfing:
Surfing the ocean can be one of the greatest healing powers of all. There are wonderful benefits of surfing and it can truly allow your mind and body to have a complete change of scenery and perspective – a great way to start or finish the day. The salt water also provides some great benefits to your skin, including cleansing and exfoliating.
Walking:
Walking is one of the easiest ways to switch off and connect to your environment and surroundings. Parks, trails and forests can be a wonderful way to connect with nature and tune into a completely different world. It is important to switch off, particularly with smart devices and truly soak up the nature and noises around you.
Beaching:
The beach is a favourite for many people to relax, unwind and slow down their week. With the added benefit of safely soaking up some vitamin D, the beach is a fantastic way to feel at one with the earth and lay, rest, and breathe.
Animals:
Surrounding yourself around animals is another way to connect with the environment. Animals offer so much biodiversity and it can be an amazing (and therapeutic) way to switch off and connect with them where you can. This might be a simple trip to the zoo, farm or nearest wildlife park.
Indulge in the elements:
Making the most of the elements the day gives us is a great way to feel connected to the world around you. Enjoying some rain, surfing in the wind, soaking up the sun are all ways you can provide your body with an experience of the elements, ultimately connecting to the environment around you.
