How to Make It Through the Holidays Without Feeling Overwhelmed

The holiday season is here and there is no turning back. How can you get through the season, while still dealing with the hustle and bustle of your everyday life. Well here are 7 easy steps you can follow to help keep your sanity. By following these easy steps, you will still have plenty of energy to enjoy the rest of the holiday season.

1. Don’t wait until the last minute
Do what you can whenever you can. For example, go to the store before or after work, pick things up during your routine errands, etc. You get the picture.

2. Stick to your budget
Know who you are buying gifts for, so you have an idea of a price range to shop for each person. Don’t go into the New Year with a negative balance. Remember you do not have to get everyone a gift. This is not what the holidays are about.

3. Don’t be afraid to say “No”
If you feel that you will be running yourself too thin because you have so much on your plate, say “no”. Save some energy for the actual holidays and don’t feel bad about it.

4. Ask for help as needed
Try to get everyone involved. It is a time of sharing. I am sure everyone will benefit from the task at hand anyway.

5. Get enough rest
It is important to make sure you get enough sleep so you have enough momentum to get your work done. Try to keep your regular sleep routine, even if it is a few days out of the week. Plus, you want to keep your immune system strong during the cold and flu season.

6. Create your own memories
Do not try to live up to the expectations of what is seen on TV commercials, advertisements, or even from your friends and neighbours. Be present and enjoy the times you are spending with your family and friends now.

7. Have Gratitude
Remember to be grateful for all of the things that you already have. It helps you to get into the holiday spirit and to be able to share it with others.

I hope this helps. It has helped me to get through the holidays year after year. I know that it will help you too. I want to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a wonderful, prosperous, joyous and loving New Year!!!
