Why a greyhound makes a great family pet

Luke and Lauren playing with Bernie, their adopted Greyhound

Greyhounds are great pets, and for a really cheap adoption fee, you get a lifelong companion.

Greyhounds are extremely affectionate and love human company. They are great dogs for families with older children or those who live in apartments. They have excellent manners and don’t pester guests. They are very quiet and don’t bark.

They are extremely clean and healthy and require minimal grooming. They don’t shed hair either.

They don’t need long walks, 15 mins a day and they are happy. They aren’t fussy eaters and don’t eat a lot, ours doesn’t like any treats at all! They spend most of their day in bed or lying down on the floor where their family is. They are just couch potatoes.

They adapt easily to new homes and are perfect for first-time dog owners.

By adopting a greyhound, you are saving a dogs life. There are so many greyhounds needing a good home right now don’t spend $3500 on a fluffy puppy save a greyhound who will love you forever and be the easiest dog you can ever own.

The Greyhound Adoption Program (NSW), Inc. is a non-profit organisation, incorporated with the NSW Department of Fair Trading, which is dedicated to the welfare of Greyhounds. They are also a charity. Their primary purpose is to educate the public on the benefits and care of Greyhounds as companion animals, and to find permanent loving homes for the beautiful hounds. They rely on memberships and donations for our funding and do not accept Greyhound Racing industry funds.
