Wow Festival 2020 CPAC’S Kids Festival of Fun Goes Online

School?s out and although?Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre?s?(CPAC) much-loved annual?WOW Festival?is not being held in-person this July, the venue is inviting creative youngsters to join them in the digital realm for the?WOW Festival At Home, available from?Wednesday 15 July.

Because social distancing regulations are still strictly in place, in order to keep the community safe, CPAC has moved this year?s WOW Festival online, offering a broad range of activities covering theatre, art, Storytime sessions, and even dance?for FREE.

?Despite the past few months of COVID-19 lockdown, we have continued to connect with our audience through a packed online program for the whole family – including comic creation, Claymation, and other video workshops for the kids,? CPAC Director Craig Donarski?said.

?And now our WOW Festival At Home dials up those digital delights to a new level ? and the best bit is, you can join in from anywhere.

?Keep an eye out and you?ll even catch me in a Storytime cameo sharing one of my favourite books.?

CPAC?s online video content will be complemented by a comprehensive Creative Pack, crammed full of fun things to make and do, and available for download from 15 July or in print form by request at the venue.

WOW Festival creative producer Claudia Chidiac?said that while she was sad not to be able to host an in-person event, putting the Festival online kept the audience connection going and would help children navigate the change unfolding around them.

?We believe in the power of art and expression ? these aren?t just activities, but a chance for children to really lead the way during what are very turbulent times.

?Grown-ups need not worry either, there’s plenty of stuff for them to enjoy as well.

?Hopefully we can see you all again, in person, this time next year.?

But Ms Chidiac said visitors were also welcome to come into CPAC and use the Creative Pack to make the most of everything already on offer at the venue.

?Why not get of the house and come over to our place? Get away from the screen, grab your pencil case, drop on by, and check out our exhibitions, magnificent outdoor murals, and beautiful Sculpture Park – just be sure to observe social distancing and hygiene requirements.

?And if there?s any energy left to burn, there?s Casula Parklands adventure playground to explore, with a toddler playground for youngsters, and a skywalk, flying foxes and ninja training circuit for older kids.?

The Creative Pack has been designed to guide parents and guardians through the materials their young artists will need, how to work alongside their child, and also discuss the activities being completed to help everyone make the most of them.

It?s suitable for all ages up to 12 and among the projects on offer are slime making, learning improvisation using ordinary objects as props, colouring-in, a gallery tour, and much more.

The WOW Festival At Home has also connected with theatre groups across the country to offer online theatre experiences.
