Warringah Aquatic Centre – Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety Course

All you need is great communication skills, enthusiasm and be a competent swimmer.
Warringah Aquatic Centre has teamed up with Royal Life Saving NSW to offer their New Swim Teacher course.
The Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher course is a nationally recognised course from the SIS Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training package providing you with both skill sets of:
- SISSS00112 – Swimming and Water Safety Teacher skill set and
- SISCAQU011 – Promote development of infants and toddlers in an aquatic environment.
- In addition, successful candidates will also attain: HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation whilst completing their teacher swimming & water safety course.
This Training under Job Trainer is fee-free and fully funded by the NSW and Commonwealth governments for candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- 15 years or older; AND
- no longer at school; AND
- Live OR work in NSW; AND
- be an Australian Citizen or New Zealand citizen, or Australian permanent resident, OR Humanitarian Visa Holder (International students are not eligible); AND
- meet ONE of the following:
- Unemployed (you DO NOT have to be in receipt of any Commonwealth benefits or registered with Centrelink); or
- At risk of unemployment or expected to be unemployed.
The course delivery is flexible with 3 easy steps to get your licence:
- Complete the online pre-course work (around 3-4 hours),
- 1 day face to face training,
- Complete on the job practical supervised hours at the pool (minimum 12 hours).
