Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade

Together, champion love stronger, stand up to inequality louder and celebrate the uniqueness prouder – united, SHINE. In 2022 at the 44th Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade, shine brighter than ever before.

The nation goes glitter galore for the biggest night of LGBTQI+ celebration, protest and expression. In 2022 they return to the famous Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) for a world-class stadium spectacular. Uniting over 6500 marchers across 160+ glittering floats, a star-studded line-up of special guests and a couple of surprises – this is one you’re not going to want to miss!

The display of colour, art and movement will take over the SCG as crowd-favourites 78ers, Dykes on Bikes, First Nations and more come together for Mardi Gras’ night-of-nights. The display of queer extravagance has been lighting up Sydney for over four decades, and they’re back to shine a spotlight on the communities at the SCG, and to those watching live around the globe.

For access and inclusion information, including how to purchase tickets for accessible seating, please click here. People with access and inclusion requirements are eligible to receive one (1) free ticket with each accessible ticket purchased.

Ballot is proudly provided by the Principal Partner American Express.

They want to make the Parade as accessible as possible for all members of the LGBTQI+ communities, especially those who have been adversely affected by the ongoing pandemic. Although there is a small price for general admission tickets to help cover the costs of operating a COVID-Safe event, we have set aside 3,000 free tickets for anyone who is feeling the financial impact of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 hardship tickets will be allocated randomly via a ballot system where 1,500 people will receive a double pass to experience the 2022 Parade live at the Sydney Cricket Ground.  Please be aware this COVID-19 Hardship Ballot has been set up to support those in our community who are experiencing financial strain and cannot afford a ticket to the Parade. They ask that you only apply for the ballot if you are experiencing financial hardship so you don’t take the opportunity away from someone who truly needs the support.

The ballot will be drawn on 07/01/22 and those who have been drawn will be notified the following week.
