Bleeding Hearts and Morning Glory: Artwork by Guy Fredericks & Chloe Watfern with Studio A

A collaborative initiative spearheaded by artist Guy Fredericks, Studio A, Dr. Chloe Watfern, and MAG&M, Bleeding Hearts and Morning Glory stands as a socially engaged exhibition designed to foster the active involvement of individuals with intellectual disabilities in conversations surrounding climate change. The project actively involves neurodivergent individuals from the Northern Beaches region who are engaged in climate action, tending to the environment, cultivating local gardens, and collaborating with community groups dedicated to climate solutions.

In the project’s initial phase, Guy and Chloe are partnering with the local organisation Bushlink to organise a series of artmaking workshops. These workshops serve as a platform for discussing and addressing climate concerns through the creation of art objects. The insights and creations emerging from these workshops will form the foundation of Guy’s artistic process, culminating in the exhibition hosted at MAG&M.

Studio A, a studio tailored for professional artists with intellectual disabilities, plays a pivotal role in this collaborative endeavor. The organisation is committed t aiding artists with intellectual disabilities in overcoming barriers that hinder their access to conventional educational and professional development pathways essential for achieving success and recognition as visual artists.
