A Campfire Story
Beyond the crackling fire, between the shadows of trees, past the lapping waters of the dam – a mysterious creature stalks the darkness.
Will that scare you off?
Or will you make it to the campfire, and hear the tale?
Inspired by the camp legends, ghost stories, and family histories that is all heard growing up, this play asks how you can come back from the brink after having lost everything.
Jane Mackilgray is a mother struggling to keep her family together after the death of her husband. Her two sons hate each other, her daughter-in-law wants to take over the farm.
And there are shadows in her house. She saw them whisper to her husband. Now, she sees them whispering to her sons.
Outside, a wolf howls in the bushland. Come warm your hands over the fire, and hear what happens next.
‘A Campfire Story’ is an immersive, site specific work that’s a modern take on oral story-telling traditions.
