Lauren and her family got the opportunity to try Cavallino at Terrey Hills and here is her raving review…
This restaurant is situated in the heart Terrey Hills. It’s a stunning venue with tiled floors and high ceilings with a stone fireplace to add to the cosy ambiance. It’s under new ownership, has a new menu, new vibe and boy we were blown away by the food as this is the best Italian food we’ve ever eaten in Australia. Only in Italy could you find food this good.
We arrived for dinner and were seated immediately, close to the Pizza bar. Cavallino also has an aperitivo bar for a pre-meal drink which we will definite visit next time.
The menu is typically rustic Italian, and Cavallino sources the best of local, seasonal ingredients and also produce from Italy. It served Italian classics with some twists. The staff did an amazing job of describing everything on the menu to help us choose our food.
For antipasti, we had the bruschetta and also a fritto misto of lightly floured & fried prawns, calamari & zucchini. The seafood was perfect, and the portion was large enough to share
For our main course we had a tomato & buffalo mozzarella pizza, the pork sausage & mushroom ragu and a mixed seafood & tomato sauce linguine. All the dishes were fabulous. Cooked to perfection, nicely served large portions. The flavours were amazing.
The wine list stays mainly within Italy as it should to match this real Italian cuisine, but ranges widely in style. I decided to sample the Birra Moretti beer too which is so good with Italian food.
Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. It’s clear that the chefs use the best quality ingredients to produce dishes that are simply delightful. My daughter especially enjoyed the pizza which we all had a taste of as it looked so good, and I can say this is proper Italian pizza, they don’t get better than this.
The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again as they made us feel so welcome and gave us an amazing experience.
Run by Italians, this restaurant is a superb example of modern Italian restaurant manages to retain a traditional feel and I highly recommend this restaurant as the food is delicious and the atmosphere is brilliant. Even if you do not live on the Northern Beaches it is well worth travelling to wherever you are in Sydney. Ten out of ten!
