The Chatswood Family Festival on The Concourse

Entertainment for the whole family during January 2022!

Looking for exciting activities to entertain the kids these school holidays? Have a memorable Summer staycation at the Chatswood Family Festival on The Concourse, with shows and activities throughout January. Be inspired with Summer Escapades, theatre shows, Mini Maestros Children’s Concert with Playschool’s Rachael Coopes, a Chatswood CBD adventure walk and great food.

The highlight of the COVID safe festival is the children’s symphony Mini Maestros concerts. Conductor George Ellis joins Rachael Coopes to take the audience on a fantastic musical adventure as they search for a superpower hero. Discover the exciting sounds of Willoughby Symphony Orchestra as the family bop along to superhero themes from Superman to Batman in these engaging and fun concerts on Wednesday, 19 January at 10am and 1pm.

The Library is holding its Summer Escapades Reading Challenge where kids can read or listen to 10 or more books for the chance to win great prizes, to be presented by the Willoughby City Council Mayor. Once registered, children can share drawings, book reviews, play online games and check out the Library’s reading recommendations.

After sell-out seasons across the world, including London’s West End and Broadway, The Gruffalo will delight audiences at The Concourse from 21-23 January. Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in this musical adaptation of the classic children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Don’t miss The 13-Storey Treehouse on 28-30 January at The Concourse Theatre, after sell-out performances around Australia. The best-selling book is brought to life with a seriously funny cast and magical moments of theatrical wizardry. Adapted by Richard Tulloch from Bananas in Pyjamas and the audience is encouraged to use their imagination.

Active kids will love the Library’s adventure walk – a scavenger hunt activity where they follow clues to find Chatswood Library’s mascot hidden around Chatswood CBD.

Top off the fun day out with some delicious food at one of the many restaurants and cafes on The Concourse like Grill’d Burgers, ToMi’s Vietnamese Kitchen, Guzman y Gomez,  Elements of Thai Chatswood and Mama Mulan Chatswood.

Every Thursday and Friday from 9am – 9pm, the Chatswood Mall Markets feature food and clothing stalls along the Victoria Avenue precinct. Food from around the world is available, including tasty Greek, Egyptian, Singaporean, Japanese, Italian, Turkish, Spanish and Korean cuisine.

A visit to Chatswood is not complete without enjoying the extensive world-class shopping in Chatswood CBD including Westfields, Chatswood Chase, Chatswood Interchange and Victoria Avenue.

The Chatswood Family Festival on The Concourse is presented by Willoughby City Council. Many events are free or are low-cost. For more information on the program and to book visit https://www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au/FamilyFestival.
