‘The Caretaker’ at The Ensemble Theatre

Ensemble Theatre is thrilled to present THE CARETAKER, written by acclaimed playwright Harold Pinter, on from 14th October to 19th November.

Regarded as one of the most significant plays of the twentieth century, this mischievous comedy follows three men trapped in a room, and the power plays that go on between them.

We spoke with Silver Logie-winner, Henry Nixon, who will be starring in this excellent three-man play:

Tell us a bit about your acting career.

Acting has taken me around the world. It is interesting and challenging. It’s also fun and heartbreaking at times but that’s ok because the unpredictable nature of the job, while at times disconcerting, is also exciting.

When you’re not acting, what are you doing?

Trying to get an acting job.

What is the show ‘The Caretaker’ all about? Who should come to see it?

It’s all about 3 men going mad in a room and everyone should come and see it.

How similar or different are you to your character, Mick?

Well, the play is set in west London in 1960, my father grew up in north-west London around the same time so, to some extent, this play and this character are in my DNA.

Describe ‘The Caretaker’ in three words.

Funny, exhilarating, emotional.

The Caretaker is on at Ensemble Theatre (78 McDougall St, Kirribilli) from 14th October to 19th November 2022. For tickets and more information: https://www.ensemble.com.au/shows/the-caretaker/
