If you’re self-conscious about sagging skin or looking to reduce cellulite, Profound, a revolutionary energy-based, skin-needling treatment is here. It’s designed to create new elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks that keep your skin smooth, elastic and tightened. It’s an effective treatment for tightening skin around the face and neck, and can be used on the body to reduce cellulite and treat the ‘mummy tummy’ that we sometimes see after having children.
Dr Andreas Fox performs the skin rejuvenation treatment at Artisan Mosman, offering clients an effective alternative to a traditional face lift with significantly less downtime. Recently recognised for his scientific contribution to this revolutionary treatment, here he answers the questions he’s most frequently asked by clients considering Profound.
What is profound?
Known as the non-surgical face-lift, Profound is a revolutionary energy-based, skin-needling treatment. It’s designed to create new elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks that keep your skin smooth and elastic. It’s a highly effective treatment to rejuvenate ageing skin and reduce cellulite.
How does it work?
Profound combines microneedling and radiofrequency technologies for an advanced skin tightening and rejuvenating effect. It works by penetrating the skin at a precise depth with tiny needles, before momentarily releasing a burst of radiofrequency energy (heat). This stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, resulting in a tighter, smoother and lifted appearance.
What results can I expect?
Profound is clinically proven to create younger looking skin. Clinical studies by Syneron Candela (the manufacturers of Profound) show a 100% response rate for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and a 95% response rate for improving skin sagging.
When will I see results?
Results are typically visible six to eight weeks post treatment once your skin has moved through its natural healing process. Optimum results appear at three to six months.
Does it hurt?
To keep you as comfortable as possible, a local anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area. As the skin is numbed, most clients do not experience any pain during or immediately after the treatment.
Some minor discomfort is expected over the following days with swelling and redness which indicate your skin has started its rejuvenation process.
Is there any downtime?
You can expect about five to seven days of downtime as your skin undergoes the healing process. Profound is an attractive age rejuvenation treatment when compared to a surgical facelift which has a long and often painful recovery period of at least one month.
Who can have the treatment?
Profound is suitable for anyone noticing signs of ageing on their face and body, such as sagging and loose skin, jowls, wrinkles and cellulite.
How many treatments will I need?
Profound produces noticeable results from a single treatment and Dr Fox will prescribe a treatment plan to maintain your results after your treatment.
