A captivating concept for urban food cultivation will be explored in this workshop, focusing on the creation of wicking beds. Participants will delve into:

• Understanding the fundamentals of wicking beds.
• Exploring garden setups featuring a water tank positioned at the bed’s base.
• Learning about the mechanism by which water is drawn upwards into the soil, akin to a candle wick.
• Discovering the self-watering attributes of these gardens, particularly advantageous for periods of absence from home.

While commercial wicking beds are readily accessible, this workshop offers attendees the opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to craft their own, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-sufficiency in urban gardening endeavors.
