The coolest Christmas market on the Beaches?

It’s happening at the Bloom family home, and if you know anything about this remarkable Northern Beaches family, you’ll want to get there quick smart.

Sam Bloom (yes, the one from ‘Penguin Bloom’ – both the book and that film starring Naomi Watts) and her family are throwing open their home for a two-day festive market that’s about as Northern Beaches as it gets.

We’re talking handcrafted Christmas trees made by Sam’s son Rueben (spoiler: these aren’t your standard plastic numbers), and honey harvested from their very own rooftop beehives. How’s that for hyperlocal gift giving?

“For anyone looking for an alternative to plastic, a cut-down tree, or anything in-between, my handmade timber trees are the perfect alternatives representing a sustainable Christmas that will last for many occasions to come,” says Reuben Bloom.

“Crafted from fallen bleached Eucalyptus branches, the extra large Christmas trees can be used as a perfect minimal and eco-friendly option for everyone’s favourite time of the year. The branches are all collected locally, with the sun creating a beautiful grey tone. A perfect and sturdy change to a chopped living tree that only lasts for a few weeks.”

Sam and Cameron will be there to chat and sign books, making this way more personal than your usual Christmas shopping run.

The market’s running over two days – November 30th and December 1st, from 10am to 4pm both days – at their Newport pad. It’s a rare chance to not just shop local, but to literally shop from one of our most beloved local families.

Fair warning though – those handmade trees by Rueben are likely to fly out the door faster than a magpie spotting a shiny object, and that rooftop honey? Limited supply, obviously.
