EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP
with Psychologist Isabel Alfonso
Join us for an experiential workshop on Focusing, an evidence-based somatic approach to self-understanding and healing. Guided by Psychologist and Focusing-Oriented TherapistIsabel Alfonso, this session will help you tune into your body’s wisdom.
Focusing is the process of checking deep within yourself for a bodily felt sense of an issue and allowing the felt sense to unfold and guide you towards the next best step. Contacting the felt sense releases tension held in the body and feels good, even if the content is painful.
Why attend?
- To learn a skill that could help you with any aspect of your life, from reducing distress to making decisions or thinking creatively at work.
- For those looking for a therapist, to get a taste of an evidence-based somatic approach before embarking on therapy.
What can you expect?
You will learn about the underlying research and the 6 steps in Focusing.
You will experience Focusing through a guided activity designed to help you get clarity about:
- what gets in the way of what you want, and
- what may support you in reaching your goal.
Please bring pen and paper. You will do the activity individually. You won’t need to share what you write.
Please note that this workshop requires some level of introspection. People who are very disconnected from their inner experience can contact Isabel Alfonso for individual sessions on 0400868584 or through her website selfconnectpsychology.au
