The exhibition opening will feature two exciting shows: “Three Echoes: Western Desert Art” and “Katy B. Plummer: We Believe You Babcia.”
Three Echoes: Western Desert Art, curated by Djon Mundine OAM FAHA, showcases works by 57 acclaimed artists from the Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff), Papunya, and Utopia Aboriginal communities. Drawn from the private collection of Andrew Arnott and Karin Schack, the touring exhibition reflects the significant artistic developments of the Western Desert Art movement.
Katy B. Plummer: We Believe You Babcia, is a multimedia art intallation by Katy B. Plummer. This work explores storytelling, Polish grandmothers, intergenerational relationships, and the creative lineage of familial storytelling. The inspiration comes from a thrilling ghost story told by the artist’s grandmother Iwona, about encountering a group of ghostly actors on a flooded stage.
