Common Ground – An exhibition by Renay Smith & Leigh Vardanega

Description

Leigh Vardanega and Renay Smith’s exhibition at Gallery 109 Manly this March will display their love of colour and pattern and a shared interest in capturing moments in time and reflecting on memory. It will feature a curation of works created with themes of environment, sustainability and celebrating the commonplace.

Leigh has pursued a lifelong creative practice that has included ceramics & photography in which she has undertaken formal studies. Leigh’s life is immersed in creative pursuits but the discipline that she considers the best expression of her ideas is painting.

Renay’s early career as a Graphic Designer evolved into painting and printmaking. Her creative practice encompasses a love of Australian landscapes that consider the near and far and still life that considers everyday objects and collective memories from the recent past.

Their aim is to make art that is joyful, provoke positive memories and find common ground with their audience. They hope that collectors will feel that they have a direct connection with the artist.

‘Meet the Artists’ on Saturday 12 March, 4 – 6pm.

Location: 109 Sydney Road, Manly
