TINA: The Tina Turner Musical
The musical was written by Katori Hall, an acclaimed playwright who received the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for her play, ‘The Hot Wing King’. It was executive produced by Tina Turner herself and her husband, music executive Erwin Bach.
The show is a roaring celebration of the Queen of Rock n’ Roll. Her story is remarkable and almost unbelievable. Having won 12 Grammy awards in her career, it can be easily forgotten that Tina Turner’s success was hard won. Tina’s first hit song came at 44 years old and after performing for almost three decades.
Her earlier career success was overshadowed by an abusive marriage that became a risk to her own life. But through her perseverance, she overcame prejudice, abuse and legal battles, to ultimately conquer the music industry. Her edgy on-stage presence, striking silhouette and powerful voice were revolutionary.
