Rebecca Hinwood, handmade contemporary jewellery pop up shop
Contemporary jewellery designer Rebecca Hinwood designs and handcrafts jewellery pieces that explore the distinctive qualities of Australia’s natural environment. Focusing on simplicity and the three dimensional form, Hinwood uses a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques and materials. She creates individual jewellery pieces that convey the particular forms and colours present within Australia’s native flora.
Hinwood is particularly conscious about minimising her impact on the natural environment within her practice.
Her sculptural-like earrings, neck pieces, rings, brooches, etc, utilises sustainable, ethically sourced materials with low impact methods. Through the process of hand crafting, saw piercing, filing, soldering and finishing, she creates pieces with their own individual character.
Each piece – being slightly different from the last – displays subtle details that are noticeable only on close observation, much like the details present within the natural environment which are often difficult to see at first glance. With an emphasis on contemporary design and practicality, Hinwood focuses on various details from her observations to create simplified forms that portray her own interpretation of Australia’s native flora. Come by the store for a chat, and explore the collection of beautiful jewellery pieces that she has on display.
