Meet the Artist: Sarah Robson
Join guest curator and artist, Sarah Robson, on a walk through the exhibition Abstract Realities: The MAG&M Project, and hear how an engagement with abstract art encourages a space of contemplation where experience is amplified through attentive viewing, a slowing of time and the physical experience of an encounter.
Abstract art sits at the intersection of the real world of sensory experience and the immaterial realm of ideas. It offers an opportunity to reflect on our inner worlds of feeling and imagination as well as the external realities of material and form.
This exhibition brings together three artists, Julian Goddard (Perth), Sarah Robson (Sydney) and David Thomas (Melbourne), to create site-sensitive installations that are temporal, open and sensory. In addition to their own works, the artists have selected works from public and private collections to consider the fundamental role of contemporary abstraction.
Abstract Realities invites the viewer to experience abstract art as a unique way of questioning and revealing the seeming complexity of being in the world.
