Light Up Windsor Festival – FREE Community Event

Windsor Town Centre transforms into a Christmas extravaganza

Windsor Mall and George Street are set to come to life on Wednesday, 22 December with festive cheer from 5pm to 9pm. There will be bustling market stalls, live entertainment, family-friendly activities and so much more to enjoy!

With more than 50 stalls offering Christmas decorations, homewares, pet gifts, handmade jewellery and more, plus many of the Windsor Mall shops open for trading, you can pick up some great last-minute Christmas gifts for loved ones!

Plus local cafes and restaurants will also be open, alongside carnival food vendors, meaning you’ll also have plenty of options for a bite to eat!

On the main stage, there will be local musicians, dance school performances, and an elf drumming and hula stage show from 6.40pm. Of course, there will be a very special visit during the evening from Santa and his special elf helper!

NEW for 2021 is an exciting light projection display on the Deerubbin Centre and the Old Hawkesbury Hospital, that will feature every night from 18 December through to Christmas Eve, 8pm to 10pm. The projections will be Christmas-themed with a special historical element that will feature on the back of the old hospital.

Visitors to the Deerubbin Centre can also participate in a fun, interactive colour-by-numbers style street art. The Deerubbin Centre garden will be splashed in Christmas cheer with festive chalk art on the pavement. Come along and add your mark to this community art piece that will remain on display throughout the festive season.

The Hawkesbury Central Library and Hawkesbury Regional Gallery will be open until 8pm on Wednesday 22 December during the light projections. Come in and explore both facilities with the first 20 people to receive a special Christmas pack.

There will be additional pop-up entertainment for families who come out to enjoy the lights, including:

  • Saturday 18 December – Roving Cheeky Elves and free face painting and snow flurries
  • Wednesday 22 December – Snow flurries
  • Thursday 23 December – Free face painting
  • Friday 24 December – Free face painting and candy cane roving entertainment

Throughout the evening, there will also be free face painting, snow flurries and a special ‘Find the Reindeer’ passport. Visit all the locations and deliver your passport to Council’s tent on the night to collect a special prize! Children can collect their passport from Monday, 29 November from the Visitor Information Centre at Clarendon, and collect their first ‘bonus’ stamp while they are there.

All passports that are completed at the street fair, including getting the bonus stamp, go into a draw to win a $500 Hawkesbury family pack, including:

  • A Treetops family pass
  • Madison Alpaca Retreat Day Trip family pass
  • Hillbilly Cider gift voucher
  • Windsor Ice Creamery gift voucher
  • Hawkesbury products from our Visitor Information Centre.

The Visitor Information Centre is open every day from 9am-4pm, including weekends! Passports can also be collected on the night from Council’s tent.
