Life Drawing Beginner’s Class
‘Drawing underpins the creative process – learning to see is an essential part of learning to draw’.
This beginners’ program of life drawing provides an excellent introduction to the practice of mark making, working directly from observing the model. Acclaimed portraitist, Evert Ploeg, will guide participants through a range of fundaments including proportion, tone and form of the figure. The approach will be classic, with an emphasis on expressive application.
Open to all levels.
About the presenter:
Evert Ploeg is recognised as one of Australia’s foremost realist portrait and figurative artists, with seven major works currently in The National Portrait Gallery, Canberra. His work has been shown nationally and abroad, garnering multiple awards and honours including two Archibald People’s Choice Awards at the AGNSW and receiving Signature Status at the Portrait Society of America. His painterly approach and use of expressive brushwork saw him selected as one of only ten participants worldwide to face off in the prestigious Alla Prima portrait competition at Grand Central Atelier in New York. In addition, he has for the past decade been involved with Australian arts and social change company BighART Inc, working on inter-generational projects where his portraiture and art contributes.
