Happy Hour @ MAG&M
MAG&M opens its doors till 8pm, inviting you to experience art, sounds and words. Mingle and soak up the Environmental Art & Design Prize exhibition and celebrate the launch of Creative Open. From 5pm, listen to the cool sounds by DJ Max Durham. Aleta Wassell will perform an Acknowledgement of Country at 6.20pm. Then, hear from fashion industry leaders as they discuss their practices, sustainability and the slow fashion movement.
Kit Willow will talk about combining her love of fashion and the environment to create KITX, a label that strives to be a pioneer in design-led, sustainable and ethical fashion. She founded KITX in 2015 following her original namesake label, WILLOW. As Willow explains, “we create product love with high frequency wear, superior quality and creative design while consciously sourcing materials that minimise harm to our planet’s precious resources… I strongly believe in a better world, through the simple mantra of making women look and feel beautiful, without harming our planet, so everyone can win.”
Kim Pearce and Kath Davis from The Possibility Project will also talk about their Sydney-based social enterprise and slow clothing range slumwear108, which are consciously made products from Australian designers and workshops and classes designed to connect each other to a ‘bigger picture’. They are passionate advocates of the circular economy and believe that waste is the greatest opportunity to make change on our planet, and that complex problems can have simple solutions.
