Drama workshop: ‘Edward the Emu’
An entertaining 2 hour theatre-making experience with award-winning Sydney children’s theatre company Monkey Baa for children aged 5 to 8 years.
The talented children’s theatre-makers from award-winning company Monkey Baa returns to the AM to take young dramatists aged 5-8 years on a journey of identity, self-belief and belonging… through the eyes of an emu.
Workshopping the book Edward the Emu by Sheena Knowles and Rod Clement, participants will work collaboratively to create their own characters and scenes, combining physical movement, improvisation, vocal activities and creation of a storyline.
- A reading of Edward the Emu and Edwina the Emu
- Develop skills and confidence in Drama with the incredible Teaching Artists from Monkey Baa Theatre Company
- A short tour with First Nations staff of the Australian Museum, exploring the importance of the emu in First Nations cultures
- A photo opportunity with the company’s exquisite puppet of Edward the Emu.
