NeedleCalm is an award-winning Australian-made device that helps reduce the fear, stress, pain and anxiety associated with needles.
Using both temperature and texture, NeedleCalm utilises your body’s natural response to certain stimuli to prevent pain signals from reaching the brain.
The result? A much better experience for people who don’t like needles – and for the healthcare clinicians administering them.
Clinical Nurse Specialist Lauren Barber founded NeedleCalm in 2016 following a traumatic needle stick injury which required surgery. NeedleCalm has now helped over 4000 patients since officially launching in 2021.
She is now able to provide a complimentary 10 minute consultation to parents and patients who are looking for support.
Did you know two-thirds of children experience needle anxiety? 80% of children with chronic illness will experience anxiety from hospital alone.
NeedleCalm is proud to feature in the ‘Poke Plan’ by Comfort Quest which is an app designed to take the fear out of healthcare for children.
