NS Swim School
Join NS Swim School for Parent and Babies Classes
Drowning statistics have increased exponentially since COVID. This is due to pools being closed, swimming lessons and swim confidence ceasing. We live on the Northern Beaches and our natural instinct is to be outdoors. This increases the potential for accidents in water, whether that be in the backyard pool, bath, beach or even in buckets of water.
Parents understanding the importance of water safety skills and helping their child build confidence and awareness of what happens to their bodies when they are in the water, is crucial.
NS Swim School parent and baby classes teach parents the foundations of swimming including basic holds, body positioning, breath control and simple movements, which may enable your child to have an automatic response to survive if they fall into water. Some of these responses are rolling over to float or turning around and kicking and/or paddling back to an edge of a pool.
All parents and babies from 6 to 36 months are invited to join these classes, ensuring a pathway to a safe and happy swimming life.
First lesson is free when you sign up for 10 lessons.
Remember “swimming is a life skill forever”. NS Swim School want to help you have the same love for swimming as they do.

As the holidays draw to an end and preparations start for the new school year, there is always a lot to think about. Uniforms, stationery, and lunchboxes are always front of mind however, many parents overlook the importance of having their child’s vision tested. Vision is taken for granted and yet 30% of children have vision issues which may be impacting their learning and progress academically.
A recent study of children in QLD showed that undetected vision problems could cause lower NAPLAN scores compared to kids without vision problems.
It is advisable for every child to have a comprehensive eye examination annually as well as before commencing school to ensure that there are no undetected vision problems that may affect learning.

Their programs are largely strength & movement based, and offer classes from as young as 3 years of age and upwards.
Their Mini Active Bods Program (for 3 to 5 year olds), has the kids moving through fun circuits & obstacle courses, as well as working on specific exercises to improve strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness.
Their Little Active Bods Program (for 5 to 11 year olds), is a structured class designed to help your child build solid strength foundations across their core, lower & upper body (mostly using bodyweight exercises with proper technique)
They also offer speciality classes in the following areas:
- Girls Strength & Tumbling (5 to 14 years)
- Girls Acro & Tumbling (5 to 15 years)
- Boys Gymnastics (6 to 11 yrs)
All their programs are without competitive pressures and more niche to help your child excel in their specific skill and strength development.
They are building kids of the future that have all the required prerequisites when it comes to physical (and mental) preparation to meet their outside goals or just sty active and healthy.
Modbod Teens is the perfect program for Teenage kids (11 to 16 year olds) to begin building strength, mobility & fitness – the right way!
The variety of classes that are on offer, coupled with the experienced coaching team, helps provide your Teen with a solid foundation and sets them up for life!
Don’t forget that as your Teenage child begins to grow into their adult body, now is the time to teach them correct technique, fix their posture, ensure they’re using the correct muscles in their body when exercising, get them moving better (through improved core strength & mobility) and help make them feel more confident about their bodies. We all know how tough those teenager years can be for many (particularly nowadays when everyone’s on social media). Encouraging teens to step away from the games/screen time and get them working towards achieving specific goals in the gym can be very rewarding!
Physie is a form of dance and exercise to music. Classes are by age group and each age group learns 5 – 6 new routines each year. The routines are choreographed to contemporary music and are a cross section of different styles of dance such as aerobics, ballet, jazz, and hip hop.

Physie Competitions are held in the later part of the year at an individual and team level. Competitions are not compulsory, however, at Balgowlah Physie, every effort is made to include every girl in a team. Being a part of a Physie team is fun and teaches the girls to work together.
The best way to understand what Physie is about, is to trial a lesson. Balgowlah Physie offers 2 lessons obligation free, so if you would like to watch or join in on a lesson, please give their club secretary, Belinda Clare-Nazer a call.
